Ancillaries

A Category or Ancillary change instantly is populated throughout JOES. It will change all instances where that Category or Ancillary appears. Adding a new Category or Ancillary does not make it available at any store. A New Ancillary Category must have Ancillaries assigned to it to create any effect in JOES. A New Ancillary must be enabled to have it appear on any item size.

Configure Ancillary Categories

Click on Configure Ancillary Categories to view, edit, or add categories as directed by the Executive Director.

Clicking on New Category adds a line “New Category” at the bottom of the list. Delete the “New Category” text and enter the Ancillary Category name requested by the Executive Director.

Set the Group Type as directed. Ancillary Group Type is an important concept to grasp. There are two Group Types, require_one and allow_multiple.

An important concept to learn is that there are 2 types of Ancillary Categories. The Ancillary Group Type is set when the Ancillary Category is created.

  • Requires One - This Category is for things like Crust type, Sauce type, or flavor. Customers can only choose one Ancillary of that type for that Item Size. A Requires One Ancillary category can be set to enable quantity settings. A full salad has 2 salad dressings. A DME salad has 6. There must be a default choice for all Requires One type Ancillaries. The default can be “None” but there must be a default choice for every Requires One Ancillary Category for that Size.
  • Allow Multiple - This Category if for things like Extras on Original pizzas. A customer may want Parmesan, red pepper, or ranch or two of them or all of them or none of them. Do not set a default choice for an Allow Multiple Category.

Set the Sort Order as directed. The Sort Order controls the sequence of where the Toppings in that Category appear everywhere within JOES. Then Save Changes.

The Category Name or Sort Order can merely be changed. Note the red triangle that appears in the upper left corner of the field edited. Then Save Changes. Note the red triangle is no longer present.

Configure Toppings

Click on Configure Toppings to view, edit, or add Toppings as directed by the Executive Director.

Clicking on New Topping adds a line “New Topping” at the bottom of the list. Delete the “New Topping” text and enter the Topping name requested by the Executive Director. Set the Abbreviation, although Abbreviations are not in use. Select the Topping Category. Set the Sort Order as directed. The Sort Order controls the sequence of the Toppings in that Category. The Hotkey is the key that can be tapped to add that Topping to an item in POS. Care must be taken to ensure each Hotkey has only one Toppings assigned to it. Set Globally Available to Yes. Then Save Changes.

Any of the settings can merely be changed. Note the red triangle that appears in the upper left corner of the field edited. Then Save Changes. Note the red triangle is no longer present.
