Pizza Points
At MrJims.Pizza every customer earns points for every order. They do not have to register to earn points.
The exception is Online customers who order as guests. They do not earn points and cannot pay for orders in cash. We only have their name and phone number which can both be false. We want to encourage Online customers to enter their email address.
The points are based on the order subtotal value. This is the food portion of their order total. Online customers earn 2 points for every dollar spent and call-in customers earn one point for every dollar spent.
When the customer places an order that increases his points earned to 500 or more points, 500 points are removed from his account, and he is emailed a code for a free large pizza that can be used the next day and is valid for one year. 2 weeks before it expires, he is sent a reminder email about the code. A customer who does not have an email address on his account and is not ordering as an Online guest, won't get the email of course, but does earn points and rewards. Call-in customers can be told to have one of my friends in the store check their points total to see if they have a reward.
Some customers will place big group orders for their workplace in their own accounts. That way they get a pizza when the company earns 500 points.
The reward codes are transferrable, the codes can be given to anyone to use.
To view that customer's current points total users can click the rewards button on the order entry screen.
This customer has 429 points, and a Reward Pizza earned.
If there is any large, medium, or small pizza on the order, a user can apply this code and make the pizza free. The best value is a large pizza, of course. But there are customers that only order gluten free mediums or cauliflower smalls and they can use the reward for those pizzas.
400 Points
From January of 2016 to August of 2023 the Pizza Points required to earn a reward was 400. And, while we changed all mentions of Points to reflect the new 500 points requirement, there are still customers that see the 400 points in their browsers or apps. If it's in a browser, they merely need to refresh the page. If it's within the old phone apps they must uninstall and reinstall the app.
All those that see the 400 points totals had 100 points added to their account on August 21 2023. Those customers only need to earn 400 points. But they are often confused by this. You should refer them to IT support, and we can send them the breakdown of the points they earned from each order and the 100 points that were added.
Known Issues
A customer can order a pizza that causes the points earned total to exceed 500 points. At that instant the customer is sent a code for the reward pizza. However, later that order that put them over 500 points is canceled. In that rare event, the code is then deleted. So, although they have an email with a code. It is not valid. There was a time when people would place and cancel orders until they reached the points threshold for the reward pizza.
An extremely rare event is that when the customer reaches 500 points and code is generated, the code sent to them in the email is not the code that was created. In this case IT support can get them the correct code or otherwise correct the situation.
